Micaela's birthday
Micaela celebrated her 11th birthday with family on Wed. Mom had to work so Dad took over the party reigns. Here is a picture of the scoreboard light fixture Grandpa made and Dad painted. Pretty cool huh?

Ice Palace Cup
This weekend Brenna and Micaela participated in the Ice Palace Cup at the Englestad Arena in Grand Forks. They had two games on Friday which they missed school for. They only had one game on Saturday morning and then had the rest of the day to relax, play and do whatever. The Lenoir's hosted a picnic for the entire team. Just about everyone was there and I think a good time was had by all. After a full day of R&R the girls played Sunday afternoon for the championship. They had lost the previous day to the same team from Canada, the Coyotes 5-1. Team Wildcats rallied back and won the championship 7-2 with Alex scoring on an open net to seal the win. Two more tournaments to go. The Pepsi Cup is here in Fargo/Moorhead in June and then back down to the cities in August for the International Cup. Ready Hazeldines?

Kyle's Poem
This is a poem Kyle's sister read at the service. This is my favorite and very moving.
Letter from Heaven
To my dearest family some things I'd like to say
But first of all to let you know that I arrived today,
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I shall dwell with God above
Here, there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you,
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you are part of my plan
There's so much that we have to do to help our mortal man."
God gave me a fist of things that he wished for me to do
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you . . in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
1 wish that I could tell you all that God has planned
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand
But one thing is for certain though my life on earth is o'er
I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind
And when it's time for you to go . . from that body to be free
Remember you're not going . . you're just coming here to me.

My friend, Kyle
That weekend was also a sad weekend. One of my former co-workers, Kyle, down at RRRDC, was injured in a skydiving accident. After a week of tests and decisions, Kyle's family decided to let him go and he passed away on Monday the 28th. My heart goes out to his family and my former work family for the loss. He was an interesting guy who could always make you laugh. It was an honor and a privilege to call him "friend." Miss ya bud

Stick It To Cancer Tournament
Both Brenna and Micaela played for Coach Andy's (Dad's) team (yes, the ice is pink!). Brenna held her own pretty good winning a few face offs. Team Wildcats U10 won the championship going undefeated in this tourney. The girls had a great time and are looking forward to their next tournament. Thanks to Coach Danielle for also being part of the team.
Micaela and Brianna (goalie) will be playing in the Preview Cup next weekend in Blaine. This is another elite team that asked them to play.
