On a brighter note................

When Cassie was asked what she wanted for graduation she said "a trip with you" meaning with your old mother. Ah, that's kinds sweet. So we settled on a Carnival Cruise during next years spring break in March. Friend Mary will also be accompanying us. We leave out of New Orleans and sail to Belize, Isla Roatan, Cozumel and back to New Orleans for 7 fun sun filled days........can't wait. Only a mere nine months away!

6/29 car crash

My girls were involved in a car accident on their way to the Justin Bieber concert on June 29, 2010 in Minneapolis. The occupants of the vehicle were my daughters Cassie, age 18, Micaela, age 13, Brenna, age 10 and my "other" daughter from another mother, Brittany also 18. The girls were stuck in traffic where there was road construction. The car was at a complete standstill when Cassie (the driver) glanced in her rearview mirror and noticed a white vehicle coming up behind them pretty fast. There was no reaction time as the white vehicle slammed into the back of the girls' vehicle. Cassie and Brenna were taken to the hospital via ambulance complaining of neck and head pain. Micaela and Brittany were transported to the hospital by a trooper with no complaints other than to be checked out. Cassie and Brenna went through xrays and all the girls were discharged later that night. Imagine being their mother getting a frantic phone call from them stating they were just in a bad car accident 3 1/2 hrs away!

The girls missed the concert completely only to return to the hotel as the concert was being let out and numerous fans were entering the lobby of the hotel. Needless to say, I had three bummed out girls and one very emotional 10 yr old. She was listening to her ipod when a Justin Bieber song came on and she just lost it. Crying uncontrollably, unable to speak.

Cassie and Brittany offered to drive the two younger ones down to the concert and pay for hotel, gas and snacks out of their own pockets as long as I bought the tickets so they were really doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

I have attached pics of both cars. By the way, the other driver is believed to have been intoxicated though I am not able to confirm that at this time and going around 50-55 mph at the time of impact. As I stated before, the girls were at a standstill in traffic so the impact sent them into the car ahead of them as well. Right now, I don't know the status of Cassie's car whether the other insurance company will pay for the repairs or consider her car totaled. This is Cassie's car that she had less than a year and was paying for herself.

End of the Weekend

Micaela and Brenna each had a tournament in town this weekend called the Pepsi Cup. I was only able to attend the Friday games as I worked all weekend. Micaela's team did not do so well this weekend. I think they placed 6th out of 8?! Brenna's team made it to the championship this weekend before losing their final game. I don't know the final score but it was 5-0 in the second period when Cassie text me last. I would have loved to have been able to watch them since they were at home this weekend but if I wanted to be able to go down to the cities two weekends in a row in Aug for the International Cup and Midwest Selects, I had to work this weekend. The Wildcats had some Olympic Silver cheering them on during Fridays games as well. Jocelyn Lamoureux showed up at the tourney and gave the U10's, U12's and U14's a pre-game locker room pep talk. She even stayed on the bench for the U12 game. I was really surprised that when she took the bench, she actually made a point to personally speak to the girls and give them advice as they came off the ice. Micaela said she spoke to her a couple times and told her things that she had not thought of or should have done differently on that play.
I talked to her a little before the game. She was well spoken, courteous and very respectful. I was really surprised that when she took the bench, she actually made a point to personally speak to the girls and give them advice. Very good representative of Olympic Silver (should have been GOLD) and Fighting Sioux Green and White.

Not much new.......

I know, I say that and then write a page worth.

Micaela and Brenna completed West Fargo Packer Hockey camp today. They had it for three weeks. Now, they have one week off then they go to camp in Warroad, MN for a week. Warroad camp is put on by USA Women's hockey team member Gigi Marvin. Micaela has participated for the last two years and this will be Brenna's first. Ah, a week free from Micaela, Brenna AND Andy. Andy took vacation so he could be with the girls up there. Camp is all day Tues-Friday.

All three girls are playing softball this summer in one way or another. Micaela is playing for the U14 Moorhead Orange team. She usually plays infield, short or third.

B plays for the U10 Moorhead Orange team. They switch positions every inning but she likes to pitch. She does pretty good at it too. The speed isn't there but the consistancy is.

Cassie and Andy play on a Thurs night co-ed league. I have only been able to make it to a couple of their games but Cassie has pleasantly surprised all of us with her skills. Thought for sure she would hit, catch and throw like a girl!

I have been busy with school. Math is still kicking my butt. I have one more test and then my final to take then I have to start Health. I have only read three chapters for that class because I have been so preoccupied with Math. I need to complete Health by Aug 1 so I should be okay. I think I am going to change my major from Spanish to Criminal Justice. I know, 36 years old and I STILL don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
