A Special Request........

The holidays are a time for family. Whether your born or blood related, it is your family. I would like to ask ALL of my family to please put differences aside for the next month and just get along. I am not asking for everyone to be touchy-feely-your-my-best-friend-in-the-world kinda getting along, I mean be civil to one another. You don't have to send a text, christmas card, birthday wish or anything to each other. JUST BE CIVIL. Say hi to one another when your in the same room. Be nice. And before anybody gets on my case, I am not judging anybody and am not singling anybody out. My dad lost his brother today and did not get home in time to say goodbye. My family has been split apart for the last year and a half and I am tired of the back stabbing, name calling people who are FAMILY. I am just as guilty as the next person. Nobody's perfect and I certainly have my flaws.

My weekend with Bootsie (and Joe)!

Over Labor Day weekend, Cassie, Mary and I spent the weekend down in the cities. We took in a Twins game with Bootsie however Cassie and Mary didn't even get to see one pitch. Cassie was having some sort of side pain and was taken via ambulance to the hospital where they diagnosed her with kidney stones. In case your wondering, the last two times she's been to the cities, she's ended up in the hospital.

Me, Bootsie, Joe and they boys went to the Renaissance Festival. Now, I thought only the "performers" would be in costume but was I wrong. I think we were the minority.

These are the "wenches" Ben was hitting on. His tag line? Hi, my name is Ben. I'm four.

Just a couple of the kids dressed up. They were playing ice block ball.

Alot of couples had matching costumes more elaborate than any old Halloween costume.

This is where ALL the beer is. No,

This was the first thing I saw at the festival. It was pretty cool seeing this giant turtle walking around.

This man made money by being the human chair. Bet he regrets taking my $5

Even the dogs were dressed up

I just love the Pillsbury Dough Boy

Benny and his tiger face painting at the State Fair. He got ALOT of compliments on it.

Randoms......

Just remember folks, crack kills!

These are pics from Brenna's last hockey tournament, Midwest Selects. One of our other Moorhead girls Jordan played on B's team. They were both on the same U10 Moorhead team last year and will be on the same again this year.

Here is Micaela at Midwest Selects. Look at that BLONDE hair!

Janey and Micaela

Marissa and Brenna

I love this picture. It is Janey and Brenna. Janey plays for West Fargo. They were snuggled up watching tv and the next time I looked, Janey was halfway across the couch with Brenna on her.

End of the hockey season.....finally

Last weekend Micaela and Brenna each participated in Midwest Selects. These are teams that take the best of the best and put them again each other, North, South, East and West. Both played really well. B had a couple of goals and assists. M played great defense all weekend. I don't have my pictures uploaded yet but here are a couple of the girls when they went to Rink Rat 19 hockey camp in July.

Micaela showing off her skills

B not doing a bad job herself

And B again

The girls also stayed with Bootsie and Joe for a week. Bootsie laid down some rules right way such as pick up after yourself, showers are to be taken daily, and get some sort of excercise every day. Thanks Bootsie and Joe. It was a peaceful week in the Mjoness household.

Something new.......

As many of you know, I was taken to the hospital last week via the ambulance. I had gone to Brenna's softball game that night and then onto Andy and Cassie's. We arrived home late and I changed into my pj's and was running around cleaning up, loading laundry etc, when I started to feel really hot and dizzy. My tunnel vision was starting to set in so I yelled for Micaela and Cassie. Don't really remember much after that, except the ambulance ride. For some strange reason, I was not able to talk or move at all. I was blinking and aware of things around me in the ambulance but was completely immobile. They diagnosed me with low potassium and severe dehydration. I have been seeing a "fat" doctor for a couple months now and she has me on a millions different drugs including one for potassium so this kinda surprised me. I didn't realize I was dehydrated at all because let's face it, I'm a bigger girl with lotsa jiggle so I thought I was hydrated enough. I spent the weekend pretty low key attending my nephew Matt's baseball game and hanging around the house at the lake. I am feeling better now with the exception of this nasty summer cold I caught from Brenna and still feeling a little tired. Micaela asks me everyday if I have eaten my bananas and drank my water. I pee so many times at work in one day that they will definately see their water bill rise!

My co-workers were great about texting me to see how I was feeling all weekend and even had a couple visitors while I was in the ER. Lt Chris Carey, from the Moorhead PD came to the hospital. I guess one of the officers (Nick) that responded to our house notified Lt Carey that the medical involved me. I didn't get a chance to see or talk to Chris at that time but I want to thank him for his concern and for just being there. Also, Officers Nick Leinen (Nacho) and Officer Katie Scholla for responding. I wasn't aware you were there and helped, but I thank you. I didn't get the names of the ambulance personnel but they were great. I only interacted with the girl but she was really nice and kept calling me by name instead of "Ma'am (which I hate) or lady or......well, you can think of a couple more things I can be called. The nursing staff and ER doc at Innovis were genuinley kind and compassionate. When I asked about my kids, they went to the waiting room and got them immediately.

My BFF Ajor also came to the hospital after working her 10 hour shift. She works down at Regional Dispatch where I used to work. She can always make me laugh and that night was no exception. She is just as wacky as me and has an even more weird sense of humor than I. Many funny memories are with her. Late night breakfast runs, stupid ass movies she drags me to and trying to get me to excercise.........anyways thanks for being there bisch hor............

On a brighter note................

When Cassie was asked what she wanted for graduation she said "a trip with you" meaning with your old mother. Ah, that's kinds sweet. So we settled on a Carnival Cruise during next years spring break in March. Friend Mary will also be accompanying us. We leave out of New Orleans and sail to Belize, Isla Roatan, Cozumel and back to New Orleans for 7 fun sun filled days........can't wait. Only a mere nine months away!

6/29 car crash

My girls were involved in a car accident on their way to the Justin Bieber concert on June 29, 2010 in Minneapolis. The occupants of the vehicle were my daughters Cassie, age 18, Micaela, age 13, Brenna, age 10 and my "other" daughter from another mother, Brittany also 18. The girls were stuck in traffic where there was road construction. The car was at a complete standstill when Cassie (the driver) glanced in her rearview mirror and noticed a white vehicle coming up behind them pretty fast. There was no reaction time as the white vehicle slammed into the back of the girls' vehicle. Cassie and Brenna were taken to the hospital via ambulance complaining of neck and head pain. Micaela and Brittany were transported to the hospital by a trooper with no complaints other than to be checked out. Cassie and Brenna went through xrays and all the girls were discharged later that night. Imagine being their mother getting a frantic phone call from them stating they were just in a bad car accident 3 1/2 hrs away!

The girls missed the concert completely only to return to the hotel as the concert was being let out and numerous fans were entering the lobby of the hotel. Needless to say, I had three bummed out girls and one very emotional 10 yr old. She was listening to her ipod when a Justin Bieber song came on and she just lost it. Crying uncontrollably, unable to speak.

Cassie and Brittany offered to drive the two younger ones down to the concert and pay for hotel, gas and snacks out of their own pockets as long as I bought the tickets so they were really doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

I have attached pics of both cars. By the way, the other driver is believed to have been intoxicated though I am not able to confirm that at this time and going around 50-55 mph at the time of impact. As I stated before, the girls were at a standstill in traffic so the impact sent them into the car ahead of them as well. Right now, I don't know the status of Cassie's car whether the other insurance company will pay for the repairs or consider her car totaled. This is Cassie's car that she had less than a year and was paying for herself.

End of the Weekend

Micaela and Brenna each had a tournament in town this weekend called the Pepsi Cup. I was only able to attend the Friday games as I worked all weekend. Micaela's team did not do so well this weekend. I think they placed 6th out of 8?! Brenna's team made it to the championship this weekend before losing their final game. I don't know the final score but it was 5-0 in the second period when Cassie text me last. I would have loved to have been able to watch them since they were at home this weekend but if I wanted to be able to go down to the cities two weekends in a row in Aug for the International Cup and Midwest Selects, I had to work this weekend. The Wildcats had some Olympic Silver cheering them on during Fridays games as well. Jocelyn Lamoureux showed up at the tourney and gave the U10's, U12's and U14's a pre-game locker room pep talk. She even stayed on the bench for the U12 game. I was really surprised that when she took the bench, she actually made a point to personally speak to the girls and give them advice as they came off the ice. Micaela said she spoke to her a couple times and told her things that she had not thought of or should have done differently on that play.
I talked to her a little before the game. She was well spoken, courteous and very respectful. I was really surprised that when she took the bench, she actually made a point to personally speak to the girls and give them advice. Very good representative of Olympic Silver (should have been GOLD) and Fighting Sioux Green and White.

Not much new.......

I know, I say that and then write a page worth.

Micaela and Brenna completed West Fargo Packer Hockey camp today. They had it for three weeks. Now, they have one week off then they go to camp in Warroad, MN for a week. Warroad camp is put on by USA Women's hockey team member Gigi Marvin. Micaela has participated for the last two years and this will be Brenna's first. Ah, a week free from Micaela, Brenna AND Andy. Andy took vacation so he could be with the girls up there. Camp is all day Tues-Friday.

All three girls are playing softball this summer in one way or another. Micaela is playing for the U14 Moorhead Orange team. She usually plays infield, short or third.

B plays for the U10 Moorhead Orange team. They switch positions every inning but she likes to pitch. She does pretty good at it too. The speed isn't there but the consistancy is.

Cassie and Andy play on a Thurs night co-ed league. I have only been able to make it to a couple of their games but Cassie has pleasantly surprised all of us with her skills. Thought for sure she would hit, catch and throw like a girl!

I have been busy with school. Math is still kicking my butt. I have one more test and then my final to take then I have to start Health. I have only read three chapters for that class because I have been so preoccupied with Math. I need to complete Health by Aug 1 so I should be okay. I think I am going to change my major from Spanish to Criminal Justice. I know, 36 years old and I STILL don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Summer............and we're still playing hockey

Micaela had her second weekend in Canada May 14-16. Her team didn't win them all but I think they all played really well. They had some tough teams to play against.

One of the girls on her team, Amy, plays varsity for International Falls. We all make fun of her because she still has to have someone tie her skates! HAHAHA Amy's excuse is she can't get them tight enough. Love ya Amy.

Just a couple other random photos to upload. Cassie and I went to bingo a while back. While I didn't win at bingo, I won at pulltabs. Can we say $500 baby?

In Feb/March, Cassie, Brenna and I went to NYC. Here is one of our favorite pics

And here is our new favorite bakery

Yes, this is Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken from the famous show Cake Boss. While we didn't catch a glimpse of Buddy, we did get to talk to his mom and see a couple of his sisters and some bakery men.

Last but not least, here is a recent pic of me with my blonde hair. I haven't been blonde since 2000.

I don't have pics from B's Preview Cup tourney since we were in Canada. She had a great time and I guess played really well despite one of her goalies being "special." I mean "special" too. Isn't that what "Special Olympics" are for? I mean, she didn't stop one puck so they ended up losing like 11-0 and such. I mean, really? I didn't pay $170 for B to play in a select tournament to lose THAT bad.

Anyways, last weekend Micaela's Northern Starzz team played in Moorhead. Yeah us! The Storms (Gary and Racheal), Andy and I did most of the "hosting." Gary and I each had a rink to do the announcing on. Okay, I know our last name is pretty hard to pronounce if your not used to it, but try prouncing "Breanne Marcon-Lajuenesse." Ah right, that is exactly what I said when I got to it. I speak English and somewhat Spanish. I have no French in me what-so-ever. For the most part, I had fun being in the frozen hockey rinks all day while it was 80 degrees outside. I was like a frozen popscicle but once I got outside in my jeans, sweatshirt and jacket, I was one hot mama. Andy and I also hosted an informal bbq saturday night for the parents and players of the team. The food was good, the beer was flowing and the kids were jumping on the trampoline. It seems like no matter what select team we are a part of, everyone from the parents to the players get along extremely well. Thank someone for that!

This weekend we are going to try and be low key. We are heading down to Poppy's (lake) for the weekend but need to come back saturday for a while for Matt's grad party. Hopefully the water will be nice so the girls and dogs can get some swimming in. I have a ton of homework to do so I am hoping to get some of that done too. This summer, I am taking a math class and a health class. I have to say Elementary Algebra is kicking my butt. I did so much homework from Mon-Thurs that my brain was literally fried by the time I took my first test Thursday. Haven't even cracked open the health book yet!

Next week/weekend will be a busy one. Both Micaela and Brenna have softball (Andy got roped into coaching B's team), Andy and Cassie have softball (they play on a co-ed team), last week of school, Micaela heads to the cities for her last Northern Starzz tournament, B has a hockey tournament in Moorhead (she playes on an all boys team) and Cassie graduates. Whew. I am tired just thinking about all of it.

Anyways, have a safe weekend and remember to thank a vet for your freedom.

Mi and B

Yes it looks funny. Micaela and Brenna were getting custom fitted mouthguards and had to make their molds. This is the pic a lady took to put in her magazine and of course I can't remember the name of it!

Micaela and The Northern Starzz

Home Alone

Not a whole lot has happened in the month since I last posted.

My beloved Brigitte aka Chrisands Rustic Royalty passed away a couple weeks ago. I took it the hardest out of all of us. Gpa Gary made a nice box for her so we could bury her. Andy, Lucy, Izzy and I went out to Dad's house (lake) and buried her out there. It didn't really phase Izzy (her step-daughter?) but Lucy (her daughter) did not like seeing her mom in a box and not come out. Andy screwed the top on the box so critters wouldn't disturb her and Lucy was chewing and clawing at it. Funny how animals feel and act how we do. Lucy has been looking around for Brigitte on the bed and especially outside on the deck where Brigitte would "suntan." I think Lucy has come to realize that she is the momma to Izzy now. They will sit on the couch together and Lucy will clean Izzy and Izzy lets her. Must be how kids are when they lose their mother and the oldest steps in.........just a thought.
Te amo Mama Grande.............xoxoxoxo

Brenna played in the annual Stick It To Cancer hockey tournament a couple weeks ago. She played awesome the whole weekend. Her team won the championship and I am proud to say the team raised over $400 for Breast Cancer Research.

Micaela's team also played in that tournament but Micaela only played the first game. Since she is on another team that travels to Canada, Andy thought it would be too much to have her play all four tournaments with the Wildcats (our summer team) and four with the Northern Starzz. One player couldn't make the first game so that is why Micaela got to play. Andy had her playing center and she did amazing at it (she usually plays defense). But Micaela did hang out on the bench and opened doors for the players and the rest of her team. They didn't fare quite as well as Brenna's team but they did take consolation champions and raise over $3000 for Breast Cancer!!! Yes, I said $3000!. Some of our wonderful parents from Crookston decided to hold a fundraiser in their city. They grilled burgers and took in donations. They were even featured in the Crookston Times newspaper? Here is the link if you want to read it http://www.crookstontimes.com/features/x57954431/Local-hockey-players-Skate-for-a-Cure

Micaela's team went to Duluth last weekend where Micaela played center again. She had played forward for her Northern Starzz team but she just can't quite get the hang of where she is supposed to be. She is so defense minded that at times, we were playing with 3 defensemen....Once Micaela was put at center, she knew she had to be white on rice and go wherever that puck went. That makes the decision making a little easier for her.

My best friend Racheal's mom passed away this week. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and I thought was doing pretty well. She took a turn for the worse and passed away last Thursday. I don't know how Racheal did it, but she went with the team up to Duluth the following day after arrangements were made. Rach is a very strong person. I don't know how she did it or is doing it. If I lost one of my parents, I think I would go into hiding for quite some time. Love you Racheal.

Cassie is at prom/post prom tonight. She went with her boyfriend Casey (yes, Baba, it's still funny). I didn't get to see her in the dress because I was working and they didn't want to come all the way up north. That kid is getting older and making me feel old as well. I just can't believe I have a daughter who technically graduated from high school 6 months earlier than the rest of her class and is now taking college classes as a senior in high school (I'll give credit to her dad Jim for that. He was the intelligent one in the relationship). Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining as she is such a bright student, the state of MN is paying for her to attend college while still in high school. Actual graduation is about a month away. Then she plans on transferring to NDSU and becoming a fellow Bison with her mama. J/K She is going to study nursing and hopefully land herself in the NICU.

Senior Banquet next week and I don't have a thing to wear. Good thing I started my new diet, well, last week. No really, I went and saw a "fat" doctor over a month ago. She ran all these tests on my thyroid, lipids, cholesterol, yadda yadda yadda. I am now on fat pills twice a day, blood pressure pills, water pills, diabetes meds, psycho meds and sleeping meds. I have been kinda watching what I eat but know I need to journal it everyday. I did pretty much no excercise the last month and lost 3 1/2 pounds. The fat doc is shooting for double digits when I go back in 4 weeks. Now, if I can just get my ass up and moving, that would help. I watch the biggest loser on tv and think, I can do squats in between commercials. I actually went to the gym tonight after work. It was only for 1/2 hour but I did manage to log 1 mile. Yes, that's right folks. It took me 30 mins to run/fast walk a full mile. Afterwards, It felt like someone was sitting on my chest. But it's gotta get better, right? Little steps at a time and I am determined to excercise 3 days a week for 30 mins each time. That's a whole nother ball field.

Brenna will be participating in the Preview Cup Challenge next weekend while Andy, Micaela and I will be in Canada. Andy didn't care for how the tournament was ran before but I would much rather keep up with her skating skills than sitting in the hotel room all weekend getting no ice time. Brenna will be travelling with Ryan and Julie Christian from Grand Forks who have graciously offered to take her with them. Oh Julie, you don't know what you got yourself into!!!!!!!!

So, the weekend of the 14th, Brenna in Mpls and Andy, Micaela and I in Canada. Then the weekend after that, May 21, the Northern Starzz will be playing in Moorhead and it's also Micaela's bday. I am so tired and my drugs are starting to kick in so it's kinda difficult to finish this (no I'm not drunk) Wish I was though..........

Anyways the title.......I came home tonight to a totally quiet house except for the fish tank. Cassie is at prom, Andy, the girls and dogs are out at the lake. I get my big, comfy bed all to myself tonight. I just hope that Andy turned off his damn alarm clock so it would not ring at 645a AGAIN. NONSENSE. Gonna drink a beer and call it a night. Hasta la vista........
