UND Women's Hockey
While in Grand Forks, we were able to take in a UND women's hockey game. UND lost to the same team the nigth before, Minnesota State Mankato in a shoot out. It looked like the women were going to be victorious until the last 11 seconds of the game. The Sioux were ahead 4-2 going into the 3rd period but let it slip by. They ended up losing in OT 5-4. Bummer. We had a good time though. Hoping to get more men's and women's games in this year. Micaela has started hockey and is so far enjoying it. I heard the U12's are going to have 21 players on the team. RIDICULOUS. Brenna starts hockey this week and I know she is anxious to get out there and start playing again. Both Micaela and Brenna worked hard in the off season (is there such a thing) especially playing for Andy on the Wildcats AAA team (www.minnkotawildcats.com) that Storms and us put together this summer.
By the way, Micaela is standing next to a bronz statue of Ralph Engelstad. He seemes to have been not a very big man at all.
Grand Forks
We also went to Grand Forks this past weekend for a friend of ours surprise 40th birthday party. We had a lot of fun at the party and at the hotel. We stayed at the Holiday Inn with an indoor water park. While the water park was nothing to write home about, I would have to say the restaurant was even less. Very bland food but the service was good. This is a hotel I would not recommend to stay in. We were kind of limited as it was UND homecoming and alot of the hotels were booked. Needless to say, I would rather drive home than stay in this hotel again.
Cassie's Birthday
We celebrated Cassie's birthday on Wednesday with a trip to Red Lobster. Man, can my girls eat crab. Cassie and Micaela each put away 1.5 pounds and Brenna and her friend Crystal shared 1.5 pounds. Maybe we should move to the coast where lobster and crab are cheaper! We had 11 people at our table. Good thing it was all you can eat shrimp night. Paul, Tricia and Shaun joined us along with our friend Mary, Cassie's boyfriend Casey, and Brenna's friend Crystal. We had a good night and good times with family
From nothing to lots
Brenna has been bothering me for quite some time now about her eyes hurting. Well, we went to the eye doctor and lo and behold, she needed glasses. She only needs them to read or work on the computer (just like her mama). She was able to pick out two pairs, one that is drk blue/lt blue and one that is pink/purple (even though Grandma told her no pink). She seems to enjoy them right now but I assume she will grow bored with them just like she does with everything else.
And yes, I know you have to look at her sideways. Never said I was a rocket scientist, close but just not quite

Nothing New
Not much has happened here. Micaela started hockey last week and is enjoying it. Brenna starts next week and can't wait. We had the girls' school conferences tonight. Micaela is getting all A's except for one B and Brenna is going well especially spanish reading. Before going to conferences, Brenna told us she gets in trouble for talking. That is a common problem for her that seems to follow her through the years. I got my midterm grade today for spanish and I can happily report that I am an A student (shocker for my parents). Cassie calls me a "teachers pet." I don't mind as long as I am doing well! Isabella Kyle is doing well. She has only chewed through the phone cord, laptop cord and left some good teeth marks in my leather couch. Lucy is getting the hang of being a big sister. She plays with Izzy more and tolerates her. Brigitte on the other hand could care less. As long as Izzy stays out of her face, she doesn't seem to mind.

Announcing.......Izzy
Here is the newest member of our family. Lady Isabella "Izzy" is 9 weeks old. She was/is the pink puppy in the previous pictures. We had kind of a hard first night. I worked until midnight last night so when I got home, Izzy was curled up in between Brenna and Micaela. I let her outside in the back yard and she just looked at me like "what? you want to me to do what NOW?". Needless to say, she was not ready for bed when I was and cried in her kennel until I couldn't take it anymore. I brought her into bed with us and he found a comfortable place to sleep, on Andy's pillow right above his head. She was a good girl today going outside and trying to play with Lucy. Brigitte doesn't care for Izzy and Lucy is not sure what to do with her yet. Sometimes Lucy thinks she is a live play toy and other times, Izzy bugs the crap out of her. We played fetch outside for a while until Mom had to get some housework done. Then Izzy and I went inside and left Brigitte and Lucy on their own outside. Izzy was pretty good walking around trying to occupy herself but I guess I took a little too long as I found a surprise in Brenna's room!
