Home Alone

Not a whole lot has happened in the month since I last posted.

My beloved Brigitte aka Chrisands Rustic Royalty passed away a couple weeks ago. I took it the hardest out of all of us. Gpa Gary made a nice box for her so we could bury her. Andy, Lucy, Izzy and I went out to Dad's house (lake) and buried her out there. It didn't really phase Izzy (her step-daughter?) but Lucy (her daughter) did not like seeing her mom in a box and not come out. Andy screwed the top on the box so critters wouldn't disturb her and Lucy was chewing and clawing at it. Funny how animals feel and act how we do. Lucy has been looking around for Brigitte on the bed and especially outside on the deck where Brigitte would "suntan." I think Lucy has come to realize that she is the momma to Izzy now. They will sit on the couch together and Lucy will clean Izzy and Izzy lets her. Must be how kids are when they lose their mother and the oldest steps in.........just a thought.
Te amo Mama Grande.............xoxoxoxo

Brenna played in the annual Stick It To Cancer hockey tournament a couple weeks ago. She played awesome the whole weekend. Her team won the championship and I am proud to say the team raised over $400 for Breast Cancer Research.

Micaela's team also played in that tournament but Micaela only played the first game. Since she is on another team that travels to Canada, Andy thought it would be too much to have her play all four tournaments with the Wildcats (our summer team) and four with the Northern Starzz. One player couldn't make the first game so that is why Micaela got to play. Andy had her playing center and she did amazing at it (she usually plays defense). But Micaela did hang out on the bench and opened doors for the players and the rest of her team. They didn't fare quite as well as Brenna's team but they did take consolation champions and raise over $3000 for Breast Cancer!!! Yes, I said $3000!. Some of our wonderful parents from Crookston decided to hold a fundraiser in their city. They grilled burgers and took in donations. They were even featured in the Crookston Times newspaper? Here is the link if you want to read it http://www.crookstontimes.com/features/x57954431/Local-hockey-players-Skate-for-a-Cure

Micaela's team went to Duluth last weekend where Micaela played center again. She had played forward for her Northern Starzz team but she just can't quite get the hang of where she is supposed to be. She is so defense minded that at times, we were playing with 3 defensemen....Once Micaela was put at center, she knew she had to be white on rice and go wherever that puck went. That makes the decision making a little easier for her.

My best friend Racheal's mom passed away this week. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and I thought was doing pretty well. She took a turn for the worse and passed away last Thursday. I don't know how Racheal did it, but she went with the team up to Duluth the following day after arrangements were made. Rach is a very strong person. I don't know how she did it or is doing it. If I lost one of my parents, I think I would go into hiding for quite some time. Love you Racheal.

Cassie is at prom/post prom tonight. She went with her boyfriend Casey (yes, Baba, it's still funny). I didn't get to see her in the dress because I was working and they didn't want to come all the way up north. That kid is getting older and making me feel old as well. I just can't believe I have a daughter who technically graduated from high school 6 months earlier than the rest of her class and is now taking college classes as a senior in high school (I'll give credit to her dad Jim for that. He was the intelligent one in the relationship). Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining as she is such a bright student, the state of MN is paying for her to attend college while still in high school. Actual graduation is about a month away. Then she plans on transferring to NDSU and becoming a fellow Bison with her mama. J/K She is going to study nursing and hopefully land herself in the NICU.

Senior Banquet next week and I don't have a thing to wear. Good thing I started my new diet, well, last week. No really, I went and saw a "fat" doctor over a month ago. She ran all these tests on my thyroid, lipids, cholesterol, yadda yadda yadda. I am now on fat pills twice a day, blood pressure pills, water pills, diabetes meds, psycho meds and sleeping meds. I have been kinda watching what I eat but know I need to journal it everyday. I did pretty much no excercise the last month and lost 3 1/2 pounds. The fat doc is shooting for double digits when I go back in 4 weeks. Now, if I can just get my ass up and moving, that would help. I watch the biggest loser on tv and think, I can do squats in between commercials. I actually went to the gym tonight after work. It was only for 1/2 hour but I did manage to log 1 mile. Yes, that's right folks. It took me 30 mins to run/fast walk a full mile. Afterwards, It felt like someone was sitting on my chest. But it's gotta get better, right? Little steps at a time and I am determined to excercise 3 days a week for 30 mins each time. That's a whole nother ball field.

Brenna will be participating in the Preview Cup Challenge next weekend while Andy, Micaela and I will be in Canada. Andy didn't care for how the tournament was ran before but I would much rather keep up with her skating skills than sitting in the hotel room all weekend getting no ice time. Brenna will be travelling with Ryan and Julie Christian from Grand Forks who have graciously offered to take her with them. Oh Julie, you don't know what you got yourself into!!!!!!!!

So, the weekend of the 14th, Brenna in Mpls and Andy, Micaela and I in Canada. Then the weekend after that, May 21, the Northern Starzz will be playing in Moorhead and it's also Micaela's bday. I am so tired and my drugs are starting to kick in so it's kinda difficult to finish this (no I'm not drunk) Wish I was though..........

Anyways the title.......I came home tonight to a totally quiet house except for the fish tank. Cassie is at prom, Andy, the girls and dogs are out at the lake. I get my big, comfy bed all to myself tonight. I just hope that Andy turned off his damn alarm clock so it would not ring at 645a AGAIN. NONSENSE. Gonna drink a beer and call it a night. Hasta la vista........
